Since 1989, the Nuclear Decommissioning Trust Fund Study Group is the essential annual forum for discussion of developments in the NDT sphere between fund sponsors and trust service providers on topics of regulation, taxation, trust servicing, investment management and administration of NDTs.
The NDTs
Owner/Operators of commercial nuclear power reactors in the US are required by federal law to collect funds from ratepayers for the eventual decommissioning of their nuclear units. As of 2024, total funds in the trusts was approximately $94.7 billion per the NISA Investment Advisors' Survey of Trust Sponsors.
The Conference
The ultimate conference hosts are the fund sponsors. There are two days of formal presentations but they find the off-line discussions to be just as, or more, important to the overall value of the conference. We encourage an informal and welcoming atmosphere.
Principals
Jon Brusven, CFA, Conference Director, has a background in investment management and corporate strategy. He has been with the conference since 2002.
David Emerson, CFA/CAIA, is a Senior Vice President and Principal of LCG Associates, as well as being LCG's practice leader for NDTs. He is a long-time participant but became an active collaborator with the conference in 2019.
